We are proud to highlight the Saudi Food Bank (known locally as “إطعام”), the first dedicated food bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region. Licensed by the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development (License No. 600), إطعام was established to tackle food insecurity and reduce waste through sustainable and dignified food redistribution across the Kingdom.

Years Of Experience
when a group of visionary leaders and community stakeholders came together with a shared mission to prevent perfectly good food from being wasted and instead channel it to families and individuals in need. This collaborative effort led to the founding of the first committee that would later become the Saudi Food Bank Association. The organization initially started operations in Dammam and, over time, expanded its presence to serve multiple cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Ahsa, and Jubail.
Since its inception, Ita'am has been at the forefront of promoting food security, community solidarity, and responsible consumption. Through partnerships with government entities, private sector collaborators, and community volunteers, the organization not only collects and redistributes surplus food but also raises awareness about the importance of reducing food waste and supporting vulnerable populations with dignity.
Over the years, innovative initiatives such as central food preservation projects and strategic collaborations with institutions have strengthened its capacity to serve communities more efficiently and responsibly, especially during critical periods such as Ramadan. These efforts underscore إطعام’s role as a leading humanitarian force in the region’s fight against hunger and waste.
Ita’am serves individuals and families in need with respect and empathy, ensuring that food assistance is delivered in a dignified and humane manner.
Ita’am is committed to reducing food waste through responsible collection, preservation, and redistribution practices that support long-term food security.
